The 11th annual Canada's Walk of Fame was held at the Four Seasons Center for the Performing Arts on Saturday and this Digital Journalist was there with pictures and interviews.
Stage crews were setting up, members of the press were building with anticipation to get a great shot or an interview and the Canadian stars were preparing to be immortalized in Canada's Walk of Fame. Gatherings of large crowds were waiting to see their favorite Canadian celebrity as flashes of light were blinding and screams of joy were deafening.
Reporting for Digital Journal, I landed interviews with CBC's Brian Williams and music legend Tom Cochrane. Other honorees to attend this year's festivities were music legends Blue Rodeo, literary icon Robert Munsch, actor and celebrity Howie Mandel, Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall and wheelchair athlete Chantal Petitclerc.
By the end of the show, press attendees were dying from exhaustion after
DigitalJournal.com,
Heavy.com and a couple of others stood at the red carpet for three hours to set up perfect shots.
Elite members of Canada’s entertainment industry lined up to enter the gala and watch their fellow peers being inducted.
The photo sessions went by quickly because of time constraints but all the celebrities were endearing, kind and respectful towards the members of the press. Everything was organized and on time, while everyone else was courteous and professional.

Anne Murray hosted this year’s event but did not have enough time to speak to Digital Journal or other publications, except for eTalk and National Post but Digital Journal did take good photographs of the singer who was honored at the first Walk of Fame ceremony eleven years ago.
Tom Cochrane, music icon, spoke to me for a very brief moment, saying that his first guitar was named Gordie, after NHL legend Gordie Howe, and the make was a Gibson model. He further added that he is a humble man and “I am honored to receive a humble award.”

Brian Williams, CBC sports host, said Winnipeg should have a hockey team but “they only deserve one if they build a better arena. I do tell you, though; it would be a lot better situation than the one in Phoenix.”

Howie Mandel, host of NBC’s Deal or No Deal, walked by and was telling others he is currently working on an autobiography called
Don’t Touch Me, which is expected to be released next year. He also relived some memories in Canada such as his first stand up routine at Yuk’s Yuk’s, which he explained how it was terrifying for him.

This was a huge event for Toronto, especially during the Toronto International Film Festival. Nevertheless, next year’s event should be even bigger and better.
