BAGHDAD, Iraq – Fireworks displays accompanied the joyous celebrations amidst the streets of Baghdad as the countdown clock ticked into zero, signaling the withdrawal of American troops in the city.

Lately, violence associated with the Sunni insurgents had erupted as troops started to pull back into their camps. However, it wasn't the case Tuesday as thousands gathered in a city park, singing patriotic songs, waiving Iraqi flags, shouting and simply enjoying the moment.
