According to a report, published by the US census Bureau, the India-born American residents are the best educated among all foreign-born communities in the United States and are also the top earners in the country.
A latest census by the US census Bureau has revealed that the India-born Americans, numbering over 1.5 million, are on an average earning better salary than other Americans and are also the best educated among all foreign-born residents in the country.
The US census Bureau has said drawing on data from the 2007 American Community Survey, a whopping 74 per cent of Indians have bachelor’s degree or higher degree, compared to a 27 per cent on an average for all foreign-born Americans.
The Data reportedly shows that the median household income for Indian residents is $91,195, whereas the median household income for the total population is $50,740.
Besides, the overall median household income for foreign-born and native US residents is $46,881 and $51,249 respectively.
The census revealed that among 85 per cent of the total US population, 88 per cent of Native Americans and 68 per cent foreign-born US residents are high school graduates.
Numerically, the population of ethnic Indians (1.5 million) in the USA is ranked fourth after Mexicans (11.7 million), Chinese (1.9 million) and the Philippines (1.7 million), the
report says.
