Fifteen people were killed when a bar in Southeast China was accidentally set on fire by a group of people celebrating a party inisde the bar.
A group of people inside a bar in China set off fireworks at their table to celebrate a birthday party when it suddenly set the ceiling in flames. The fire immediately spread to the entire bar that lead to the death of at least 15 people and injured 20 others.
Inquirer.net reports: ‘Fifteen people were killed while 20 others were injured, three of them seriously, in a blaze set off by fireworks inside a bar in Southeast China, the state media reported Sunday.
The accident happened late Saturday evening in the city of Changle .Southeast China.
Firemen arrived at the scene immediately and the fire was extinguished 30 minutes later.
The fifteen fatalities were reported to have died of suffocation. Three of the injured were in critical condition while others were pronounced out of danger and were sent home after an overnight treatment.
The tragedy came just after the celebration of the Chinese lunar New Year which the Chinese people traditionally celebrate with fireworks.
The report did not mention if the bar had adequate fire protection devices or sufficient and working fire exits.
