A recent article depicted a relationship in a Chinese zoo between a guard dog and a monkey, but that was a bit different. In this sweet tale, the dog is not a bodyguard to the darling little monkey; they are bosom buddies. Read on and…pass the Kleenex.
The dog is owned by a keeper at the Nanhai Zoo at Zhumadian City and according to news sources, she takes her six-month-old puppy to work with her. It was there the relationship between the dog and a caged monkey blossomed. She told the press:
“I noticed a bond growing between the two animals about a month ago. When the dog walked toward the cage, the monkey inside began to shriek.”
The dog visited the cage often and soon the monkey began feeding the dog bananas and grooming its hair and the dog would let the monkey ride on its back. A zoo spokesman said that everyone as happy with the dog spending its days in the monkey's cage as the unlikely duo are quite a hit with zoo visitors!
One can only wonder what they discuss in between bananas and rides around the cage. It’s not likely to concern the war in Iran or global warming, but who’s to say it isn’t meaningful and loving conversation?
Take a look at the pair at the link cited above.
