'The Godfather' is the best film of all time. So say a team of renowned filmmakers in a survey conducted by Empire magazine. Who are we to argue? We loved it.
Probably most of us above the age of 30 have seen it. Probably, many below that have seen it too. For it redefined a genre of films and gave birth to a lot of pretenders. But none could capture the emotively throbbing quality of 'The Godfather'.

For this particular masterpiece, its creator Francis Ford Coppola has taken a lot of bows around the world and a few statuettes too. But now, he could be preparing for a 'greater' accolade. Coming as it is from a host of contemporaries like Quentin Tarantino, Sam Mendes, Mike Leigh, Guillermo Del Toro, Cameron Crowe and Pedro Almodovar. Indeed some like Tarantino have fed themselves a diet of films like 'The Godfather'. They named it 'The Best Film Of All Time'.

Which are the ones which 'The Godfather' beat off for the coveted laurel? All of them are timeless classics, so it must have been a tough call for directors who took part in the survey.

The top ten 'Best Films Of All Time' are:

1. The Godfather (1972)

2. Raging Bull (1980)

3. Singin' In The Rain (1952)
