Jodie Evans, a member of Code Pink and a bundler for Barack Obama according to his website, was part of a group of activists that met with Iranian President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, on Wednesday September 24, 2008.
A bundler is is a person that help collect money for a specific campaign and according to Barack Obama's website, Evans is listed as one of Obama's bundlers.
Jodie Evans and Medea Benjamin, both Code Pink members, joined other activists in a meeting with Iranian officials, including Ahmadinejad.
Iran is listed as a state sponsor of terrorism by the State Department and is believed by many to be developing Nuclear weapons.
Who is Jodie Evans?
Jodie Evans is listed under the "Who are Senator Obama's bundlers?" listed as "Raising from $50,000 to $100,000."
Jodie Evans co-hosted Barack Obama's first major fundraiser in Hollywood in February of 2007 as reported by Canada Free Press and other media outlets.
According to Evans’ Code Pink co-founder Medea Benjamin, Evans is on a first name basis with Obama and discussed Iraq policy with Obama at another Hollywood fundraiser on June 24, 2008.
Evans was also a guest at another fundraising dinner as recently as September of 2008 according to Hollywood Insider which provides a list of the guests. She is also a prominent member of the activist group Code Pink along with the groups founder Medea Benjamin, who also participated in the meeting with Ahmadinejad.
Evans has also stated her agreement with Osama bin Laden’s motives for attacking America on September 11, 2001 in an interview broadcast June 3, 2008:
Jodie Evans:..."We were attacked because we were in Saudi Arabia, that was the message of Osama, was that because we had our bases in the Middle East, he attacked the United States.”
Paul A. Ibbetson
: “Do you think that’s a valid argument?”
Evans: “Sure. Why do we have bases in the Middle East? We totally violated the rights of that country. Why do we get to have bases in the Middle East?”
Also in that interview, Evans said Code Pink’s goal is to “undermine the war effort (of the United States") and that she wished Saddam Hussein was still in power.
Toward that goal, Evans has worked with the governments of Saddam Hussein (in 2003), Hugo Chavez and the Castro brothers, as well as pro-insurgent elements in the Middle East.
Evans was one of the two women removed from the Republican National Convention after trying to disrupt Sarah Palin's speech, as reported by Twin Cities. com, dated before Evans attended the September fundraising dinner for Barack Obama.
Meeting with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
According to the release announcing the activists meeting with Ahmadinejad, it was to be held at a Mid-town Manhattan, in a location convenient to the United Nations on Wednesday, September 24th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
Who: Over 150 leaders of the U.S. peace movement (see selected list below) and Iranian leaders, including President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki, and U.N. Ambassador Mohammad Khazaee.
Two of the people listed as participants were, Medea Benjamin, cofounder, Global Exchange and CodePink; Jodie Evans, cofounder, CodePink.
As per the Code Pink release sent out after the meeting, the meeting was held as planned at the Grand Hyatt Hotel and Code Pink touts the meeting as a “major step forward” in relations between Iran and the United States.
[Update] When asked for her reaction about the Obama bundler, Evans, attending this meeting with Ahmadinejad, former radio talk show host, best selling author and chairman of Move American Forward, Melanie Morgan, tells me "The reckless disregard of American foreign policy which leaves each of us more vulnerable by Senator Obama’s campaign supporters is stunning. It is long past time for the Department of Justice to launch an investigation into CodePink, and its co-founders Jodie Evans and Medea Benjamin. Senator Obama should be ashamed of himself for taking their blood money.”
Move America Forward is a non-partisan, not-for-profit charitable organization committed to supporting America’s efforts to defeat terrorism and supporting the brave men and women of our Armed Forces.
