An argument over the sizes of two men's penis' turned deadly Wednesday evening and ended with three men dead and two critically wounded. The shooting took place in the Merseyside Restaurant and Bar in Durban, South Africa. Five people were arrested.
Durban, South Africa - The argument started when two men, one of Indian decent and the other white, were in the urinals of the Merseyside Restaurant and Bar at the Queensmead Mall in Durban's Umbilo suburb. The man of Indian descent made a comment to the white man
that his penis was bigger than his (that of the white man).
The white man left the urinals and returned to his friends, telling them what had been said to him in the urinals. From there, vulgarities were shouted back and forth between the men of Indian descent and a group of white men.
Five of the Indian men left the restaurant, and when they returned, all five were carrying firearms. At that point, they began shooting.
"The men opened fire and three victims aged between 30 and 55 years died on the spot. Another two were rushed to St Augustine's Hospital in a critical condition," said Superintendent Muzi Mngomezulu.
It is believed that the argument ended up becoming racially motivated, although a senior staff member at the restaurant isn't so sure. The staff member did say that the argument did begin over genitals.
"That's what initiated it (the argument) and it obviously got out of hand. That's all I'm prepared to say," he said speaking on condition of anonymity.
No additional people were hurt in the shooting.
