One witness to a plane crashing into a building, and exploding admitted to having soiled himself before dialing 000 to report the incident.
In a
plane crash apparently caused by two planes colliding, one of the light aircraft has struck a garage and exploded, killing the pilot. The accident happened near Cheltenham which is a suburb of Melbourne.
The second plane landed safely after the incident, but one witness,
Nearby resident Jim Hilcke said: "I watched the plane fly over and thought it was coming very close to another plane, then I saw a third plane and that was the one that it hit, the right-wing tip hit the tail of the plane that crashed.
"I think the attention of the pilot would have been on the first plane that he was getting really close to.
"I saw them hit each other. It crashed down and went out of sight. I heard a bang and smoke went up.
"I s*** myself and rang 000."
A nearby primary school was locked down with local Police attending at the school to provide any assistance needed. There were
several witnesses to the incident which occurred over a well populated neighborhood.
Moorabbin Airport general manager Phil McConnell confirmed the aircraft were both in their take-off phase and were being monitored by air traffic controllers at the time of the crash.
"My information is that they had just taken off" and were still within "terminal control", Mr McConnell said.
As for the witness who soiled himself, he was deemed to be unhurt but very embarrassed.
