A pigeon is now a felon after being caught smuggling drugs into a high-security jail in Bosnia.
Do birds of a feather really flock together? Read on for the details.
A pigeon, who has the misfortune of being the pet of one of the inmates in a Bosnian high-security jail has been taken into custody after it was caught transporting tiny bags of heroin tied to its legs. According to
news sources, authorities at Zenica prison became very suspicious after four prisoners became highly intoxicated shortly after the pigeon was seen landing on a window ledge. The owner of the bird and three other inmates later tested positive for the drug.
According to Deputy Warden, Josip Pojavnik:
"We suspect that the pigeon carried the drugs from Tuzla, which is forty miles away. We do not know what to do with the pigeon, but for the time being it will remain behind bars.”
The bird has been taken into custody while an investigation is carried out. It is not known if he will be released on bail under his own recognizance or not. It seems an unfair end for an innocent pigeon doing what he does best and whose only mistake is hanging out with the wrong crowd. Officials may now suspend the jail’s rehabilitation program that had been encouraging prisoners to breed pigeons.
How are they going to fingerprint this fine-feathered felon?
The poor pigeon is a sitting duck, (or something like that).
Go figure.
