Facebook, which started off exclusively for college students only, now is the online home for the oldest person in its social network. Ivy Bean is 102 and has more than 3,490 friends in just two days.
Facebook is currently the largest social network in the world and still growing at a rapid pace. Initially, when the site was launched in 2004, it was restricted to students from Harvard only, and then it expanded to Ivy colleges but now is open to anyone from anywhere in the world. Thanks to its openness, it is becoming popular in many countries.

Facebook is just not for 20- or 30-somethings anymore: parents, grandparents and senior citizens are also joining the social network. Mrs. Ivy Bean is one of them and also believed to be the oldest person on any social network.

Bean joined Facebook more than a year ago when she moved to her new nursing home in Bradford, England. The nursing staff set up a special Facebook group for her and posted a video of her winning the gold medal in Bradford’s over-75 Olympics for the Frisbee toss. Until Friday, she just had 9 friends in Facebook but after the news was reported by AP and Reuters, her "friends" have increased to 3,490.

If you have a Facebook account, leave a note to Mrs. Ivy Bean here.
