Elisabeth Fritzl, who was held captive for the last 24 years, has spoken out for the first time and said that she never wants to see her father’s face again.
After her emotional reunion with her mother, Rosemarie Fritzl, siblings and her children, Elizabeth broke out in tears and told her family: "I can't believe I'm free – is it really you? I can't believe I'm out. I didn't think I would ever see you again. It's all too much for me. I don't ever want to see him again."

Elisabeth was reunited with the three children, who were taken away from her by her father. She was very happy to see them.

Elisabeth was drugged and lured into the cellar beneath her family home in Amstetten, Austria, when she was just 18. Her father Josef Fritzl concocted an elaborate web of lies and convinced his family that she had run away to join a cult.

Elisabeth Fritzl’s sister Gabriele Helm, 35 spoke to the press and told them that Elisabeth is healthy, chatty and doing very well despite the ordeal.

Every day she gets a bit stronger. I can't say what the family is going through. It's more than anyone can believe. It has devastated us…We are working together to support Elisabeth. She is overjoyed to see her children. She told them they were beautiful and she is spending all the time getting to know them.

Her lawyer Christoph Herbst told the Telegraph that Elisabeth is keen to enjoy the outdoors and feel the rain. But they want to take it slowly.
For now they just talk to each other. But Elisabeth and her children who lived in the cellar have no concept of time and of the future. Some people who hear the story think Elisabeth is like something from a horror film. But rumors that she has no teeth and cannot talk are not true.

Herbst said she looks very normal and no one would believe that she has gone through a tough ordeal all these years. The family is very happy now and the children are getting adjusted to life outside captivity.

Herbst added:
It is really brilliant how Elisabeth has reacted to the outside world. They are all rather fine. Elisabeth is really an impressive person. She is very strong. She's happy now for the first time.

Prosecutor Gerhard Sedlacek is gathering evidences and may file a murder charge against Josef Fritzl for incinerating the baby, who died after birth in the cellar.

Once Elisabeth and her children leave the hospital, I hope the public and the press leave her alone. She deserves her privacy.

That man stole so much of her life and her children's from her.

I don't blame her for never want to see him again.
I also hope that she is left alone so she can try to live a normal life.

It is a natural reaction, who would want to see the monster again. I hope they give her and children enough counseling and provide some financial support also.

"Elisabeth is keen to enjoy the outdoors and feel the rain."

One never feels quite as alive as when they can "feel the rain."

I doubt this poor woman will be left in peace. Can you just imagine all of the television and magazine people that will be after her to get her first interview?! The book offers, movie deals. This will never, ever end for this woman and her family. Hopefully they'll get alot of $$$$ out of the deal, though it seems a sad trade for the majority of your adult life.
I wonder what the kids that stayed in the basement with her are like? They don't say alot about them at this point.....just too sad and twisted for words really, the whole thing.

They should give her a different identity, maybe move them to a different country. But the curious will always pester them. I read in another article that the children were having a hard time adjusting to light, hopefully they will get better in time.

I suppose I don't really understand the situation here. She was locked in a cellar, beneath a house that her family lived in all those years, and what? had conjugal visits to get pregnant with 3 kids? And then her dad took them away at some point? Maybe I just think too much when I read articles, but my brain likes to cover all the angles and fill in the blanks... :-) This is a very interesting story though!!

He is pleading insanity...And says that he wanted to have a 'normal' family in the cellar!!! Incredulous.

I guess this would be the most followed and updated story on DJ till date.

Hi Julybug. There are many stories that have been written on DJ about this. If you want to read what has been going on put "FLDS Children" in the search box at the top here to the left.

You can also do a second search by putting in "Josef Fritzl" in the search.

Julybug - fyi - FLDS children and Josef Fritzl have nothing to do with each other - don't know why you were led to believe they do?

    Sorry Julybug Pam is right.

That is what I get for just running back in here for a quick look and comment. I am supposed to be getting ready for a trip on Wed and Thursday and be baking some cookies for a picnic tomorrow. So I am not taking the time to think.
    Thanks Pam.
