Meatloaf Walks Off Show
by KJ Mullins.
Meatloaf could not finish a concert Wednesday in Newcastle due to illness and walked off stage. The 60-year-old singer had to cancel the Birmingham's NEC Arena portion of his Three Bats Tour on doctor's orders.
The singer is suffering from exhaustion plus acute laryngitis. In Newcastle he just got out the first line of "Paradise By The Dashboard Light" before he had to stop the show. He left the stage
after telling the audience: "I can no longer continue. I take my coat off and thank you for 30 years."
According to his website he had felt ill Wednesday prior to the performance and still tried to go on.
"Performing for my fans is the most important thing in the world to me. Over the years, I've gone on stage with a broken foot and an arrhythmic heart.
"It was devastating having to come off stage in Newcastle but over time, I've reluctantly learned that I have to abide by what the doctors tell me to do."
Meatloaf has collapsed backstage from his performances in the past. The singer's real name is Michael Lee Aday. The singer has the heart condition Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome.
He plans to finish the tour and reschedule the Birmingham show.
