Mattel, maker of kids' toys Barbie, Polly Pocket, Batman action figures, Cars figurines and Doggie Daycare toys, has now expanded the recall for products manufactured in China. They constitute a health risk for children, due to detaching pieces.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has put out a notice relating to Mattel toys, fabricated in China, who constitute a health hazard due to small magnets breaking off of the toys.
About half of the magnetic toys were distributed outside the United States, indicates a CanWest report.
A Bloomberg article states that 65% of Mattel's toys are built in China.
A full list of products is published on the company’s web site. And consumers are urged to remove any toy included in the recall from the hands of children.
August 2, Mattel had recalled 1,5 million toys from the Fisher Price and Dora the Explorer brands due to high levels of lead in their paint.
"Shares of Mattel, which also makes Barbie dolls and Hot Wheels vehicles, dropped $1, or 4.2 percent, to $22.57 as of 9:32 a.m. in New York Stock Exchange composite trading," reports Bloomberg.
