Charles D. Young, 18 years old pleaded guilty to attempting to hire a hitman to kill his ex-girlfriends fetus that was almost ready to be born.
He was sentenced to six years in prison (76.5 months) for first-degree solicitation to commit manslaughter. Even though the target was a fetus state laws still allow for these charges.
Young heard that his ex-girlfriend was pregnant with his baby and to solve the problem he attempted to hire an undercover officer for $3,250 to injure her badly enough so that the unborn baby would die.
He was arrested after a classmate of his learned about his plan and immediately went to police who set up the sting operation. They got him on tape saying that he didn't care whether his former girlfriend survived the attack.
Young apologized to the girl and her family in the courtroom during sentencing and claims to have been given "bad advice" on how to handle the situation with his ex-girlfriend.
What a horrible way to solve this problem. If he didn't want to assist in raising the child he could have just said so... this is so drastic and sad.
