Dell has announced they are going to sell PC's with a preinstall of the open source Linux operating systems.
Earlier more than 100,000 customers had been surveyed by dell and they found 70% results preferring use of Linux. So, as per the customers demand they are starting to preinstall Linux in there new PCs.
"Dell has heard you," said a statement on the firms website. "Our first step in this effort is offering Linux preinstalled on select desktop and notebook systems."
They have not informed what version of Linux they are going to install but promised to give a update in coming weeks about this.
Nick Veitch, senior editor of Linux Format magazine, described it as "significant.
It is also known that no other manufacturers are interested or willing to preinstall Linux but Mr. Veitch said there is no wonder for Dell's decision. He also added it surprises him it took too long to decide about this.
