After allegations that Ontario lottery retailers have been winning more than their fair share of lottery jackpots, it was bound to happen, disgruntled lottery players have launched a lawsuit.
"Lawyers for a Toronto man launched a $1.1-billion class-action lawsuit against Ontario's troubled lottery corporation Wednesday, as the fallout from an investigation into widespread corruption widened."
Lawyer Bryan McPhaddan says the government is responsible for making sure the lottery is fair, honest and equitable.
"
The suit, filed on behalf of all those who purchased lottery tickets since 1975, proposes a free lottery as a settlement solution."
Now the government will end up shelling out millions of dollars, give or take a hundred thousand, to fight this one.
It certainly will be interesting to watch this lawsuit unfold,
