NASHVILLE, TN - Mayor Bill Purcell vetoed a measure that would have made English the official language of Nashville.
Can you believe the nerve of some people. It isnt a good idea to make English the official language when there are probably a good amount of people who speak foreign languages living in tennessee. This is not a good move to make in making peace with other religions and I cant believe the government would even allow a bill of this kind.
How can you decide if a certain language is the "OFFICIAL" language when there isnt just one language being conversed throughout the state and the country. Although there are those people who are ignorant toward other cultures, this seems to stick out and be a slap in the face towards residents of tennessee.
I guess this ended well, meaning the bill was vetoed but it still leaves an impression on the type of people in the country today.
